Right to Work

Unleashing Human Potential Through Voluntary Association

When workers are free to bring their full creativity and passion to their chosen profession without compulsory union membership, everyone wins: employees reach their highest potential, businesses attract the best talent, and Virginia families enjoy greater prosperity. Forced unionization, by contrast, creates a chilling effect—discouraging talented young people from entering fields dominated by mandatory dues and one-size-fits-all contracts that reward seniority over merit. We see this playing out in states that have abandoned Right to Work: slower job growth, higher unemployment among new entrants to the workforce, and less opportunity for workers to chart their own path. In 2025, AFP-Virginia will mobilize thousands of grassroots activists, partner with small businesses and workers across the Commonwealth, and hold every legislator accountable to ensure Virginia remains a place where personal freedom and economic opportunity go hand in hand.
