As Virginians, we believe that every individual should have the freedom to pursue their calling without government or union bosses standing in the way. That is why Americans for Prosperity-Virginia is making the defense of our historic Right to Work law the top priority of our 2025 legislative agenda. For nearly 80 years, Virginia has proudly guaranteed that no worker can be forced to join or pay dues to a labor union as a condition of employment—a principle that has fueled our economic growth, attracted world-class employers, and empowered workers to negotiate directly with their employers based on their own unique talents and ambitions. Attempts to repeal Right to Work in the upcoming General Assembly would hand union leaders the power to compel membership and extract mandatory fees, driving away the very innovation and opportunity that have made the Commonwealth a national leader in job creation.
