Building on Progress: Real Healthcare Freedom for Every Virginian
Virginians have already seen what happens when government gets out of the way: partial Certificate of Public Need (COPN) reforms and pandemic-era telehealth expansions have brought new clinics to underserved areas, shortened wait times, and saved families thousands on routine care. Yet far too many barriers remain, allowing a handful of hospital systems to block competition while costs continue climbing faster than wages. In the 2025 General Assembly, Americans for Prosperity-Virginia is fighting to finish the job by fully repealing Virginia’s outdated COPN laws, making telehealth and remote patient monitoring permanent and unrestricted, and removing scope-of-practice obstacles that prevent nurses, physician assistants, and other professionals from delivering the care they’re trained to provide.
