For years, Virginia parents have fought bravely for the simple freedom to choose the best education for their child, yet thousands of students remain trapped in chronically underperforming schools simply because of the zip code they were born into. Americans for Prosperity-Virginia believes no child’s future should be dictated by geography or bureaucracy, which is why our top education priority in the 2025 General Assembly is legislation that lets individual localities decide whether to create and fund Education Savings Accounts (ESAs) tailored to their own communities’ needs. This bottom-up approach puts power back in the hands of parents and local leaders—not Richmond mandarins—allowing families in struggling districts to access private schools, tutoring, therapies, homeschool resources, or micro-schools without forcing a one-size-fits-all mandate on the entire Commonwealth.
