Ending the Era of Artificial Energy Scarcity
The Virginia Clean Economy Act has deliberately restricted the Commonwealth’s ability to produce the power we need right here at home, forcing us to import electricity at premium prices while our own abundant natural gas and nuclear resources sit on the sidelines. Reopening these proven pathways—along with clearing regulatory hurdles for next-generation nuclear technologies—will unleash billions in new investment, create thousands of high-paying jobs, and finally give consumers real relief from double-digit rate hikes that have become the new normal under the current law. In 2025, AFP-Virginia will mobilize grassroots activists, partner with labor, business, and consumer groups, and hold lawmakers accountable to repeal the most restrictive provisions so Virginia can power its homes, factories, and data centers with energy that is both affordable and American-made.
